Look for a used lift kit, the procomp stage 1 4" lift for the 1985-95 "truck" (also 4runner i think) will fit except for the center diff drop bracket may be a little different.
around $200 and then $30 for new hardware
A BlazeLand Longtravel kit will give you about 3 inches and 12" of travel but its more expensive.
Blocks for the rear will work but if you get a new leaf pack or a Deaver mini pack it will be a much better ride and safer. Also Shackles are a good way to lift the rear and soften the ride a little.
$350-$450 deaver mini pack I think.
Going 35s? Getting new gears? Lockers? What are you plans for what sort of off roading you want to do with it?

What's the best gear option to do? I'll just be pulling heavy loads and playing in the mud a bit. And what exactly are lockers? I've never messed with this stuff I'm ordering 35's soon and I'm trying to figure out how far I need to lift my stock 97 t100 to fit 35's and be able to pull stuff without my back tires going through my fender well. And I have no idea how much to lift it and should I try and put a chip in it or what?

You will need 4.88s at least. Which is what I have running 33s. I would want lower if I went to 35s. Or I would need a supercharger.
The best way to get more power is the supercharger. 190 to 265 HP.
You will need a 4" bracket lift for the front and I would recommend ordering a Deaver mini pack set up for 4" lift, possibly some longer shackles as well.
With a normal differential when one tire is off the ground only that tire will spin and the other one will stay still. So essentially you have one wheel drive. With lockers both tires will spin at the same speed no matter what.
There is the Detroit locker which is always locked while your on the gas but when you let off the gas and turn it will let loose and make a ratchet sound.
There is a truetrac which is a mechanical posi. They work good and will be mostly locked while your on the gas. This is what I have in my front end.
There is an arb air locker, also there are electronic lockers but I don't think there is one for the t100.
The selectable lockers are the best way to go because you will not notice any difference on the street.
But the true tracs are also very good on/offroad.
The Detroit has the most noticeable street performance difference.

After a quick search, I found that Summit has a 4" lift for about $680, however that comes with blocks.

I too am in the process of trying to lift my truck. for a 97 T100 SR5 4X4
for a basic daily. no rock crawling, just mostly for stance/looks. but the occasional dirt trail/road. the front drop bracket, and block setup. maybe go with rear shackles and a leaf pack.
i've been doing some research n was able to only find kits advertised for a 95 or 96 --nothing for a 97 specifically.
now, my question is.... is there a real difference between the 95-96-97 chassis/suspension?? i mean, they have the same suspension set up, same engine.
otherwise, could i just order/use the kit for the 95/96. will it bolt up?

Tacobo670, All T100 93 to 98 have the same suspension as far as I know. I ran into the same issue with my sons 97. The lift kits only offered to 96. I contacted Superlift and questioned them. I dont remember why they said it only went to 96 but the guy was like...their lift will work on the 97 & 98's also. We installed it last summer. Had an issue with a-arm cam bolts being froze other then that it went well. Bought the kit from Superlift off ebay 600 something

I called SuperLift a few days ago asking what the difference was, as well as other major manufacturers, like pro comp, they told me they suspect the lower crossmember is different. I didn't believe it. I checked and cross referenced so many part numbers between the 2 trucks. And they are identical.
But thanks for your input. I shall be purchasing the SuperLift kit, torsion bars, ProComp tapered blocks, and prob some shackles. Possibly investing in a control arm bushing kit as well - energy suspension or whoever sells.

If you look on ebay, the seller is liftkitsforless if I'm correct. A-arm bushings I would recommend. We left the original torsion bars on and actually cranked the back down. The previous owner had them cranked all the way up. Thing road like a buck board. So we only got the 4inch out of the lift. I suppose the way you get the five is to crank the torsion bars up a little. It rides so much nicer now. Went with a 2 inch block in the rear. The rear sat high to begin with foe some reason no add- a leaf either. The superlift kit will come with 4 inch blocks. They might be ok if your turning your torsion bars up. And will still added the ball joint spacer instead of turning those bars up. they added a inch and a half. But will throw your aligment out. I hear the ball joints wear out faster too with them. So far so good! Good Luck!

i had already ordered the superlift kit. i guess the kit comes with 4in blocks
i was already planning on getting a-arm bushings, as well as rear leaf and shackle bushings.
also, gonna get new sway-away torsions for the front. crank them up a bit. the truck already sits level as is.
not sure if kit comes with BJ spacers - i dont think it does.
thanks for the help!
