clutch pedal too low why??

so I purchased this 1997 t100 sr5 5 spd 4x4 and since the clutch pedal has to be pressed onto the firewall in order to shift gears and then I can feel a lil slam when engages, im guessing a new clutch but doesn't make sense because i would feel slippage which is not the case. what do you guys think i should start with before dropping the transmission

If the clutch is grabbing too close to the end of travel i.e. your foot is almost off the peddle, that is a good indicator of a worn clutch and thinner friction plate.

If your clutch is grabbing too closets the floor, that is generally a symptom of poor hydraulics. The force you exert on the peddle isn't completely transmitting to throw of the clutch fork and travel of the pressure plate.

I would check the firewall to make sure where the clutch master cylinder mounts isn't cracked causing the firewall to flex when you step on the clutch pedal.

I would also check the amount of travel of the slave cylinder piston when you step on the clutch pedal. You'll need a helper for this. I don't know the spec for travel on a T100 but it should be like 2-3 inches. If it isn't that much you can confirm it is in the hydraulics.

I have rebuilt the master on my '94 pickup twice. The kit is about $20. Slaves I just replace as a unit.

You should only have like a half inch of free play before you start to engage the clutch. Loosen the lock nut on the master cylinder push rod behind the pedal and turn it to adjust it. Tighten the locknut when / if you get it right. For a 95 pickup, the pedal height spec is 6-13/64" and the free play is 13/64-39/64". You may also want to inspect the master cylinder and slave cylinder for leaks and make sure you have plenty of fluid. You also may have some air in the system that you'll need to bleed out. There is a bleeder valve at the slave cylinder just like your brakes. Bleed it the same as you would the brakes. Of course, you could have a worn out clutch. I know you said it wasn't slipping but depending on how you drive it, you may not feel a slip even if it's worn out. I'm going to replace a clutch Monday on a semi truck that I could drive to California without slipping it, but I know it's worn out because I have adjusted it just a little at a time it's whole life and know where it's it. I have four inches of free play in it now and its adjusted all the way. Stop on an up-hill and let her roll back and then take off and see if it will slip. If it wont, adjust your pedal and address any issues with the hydraulics. Don't let those parts scare you. When I bought my 89 I had leaks on both cylinders. I got on Amazon and looked up the parts just to see what I might have to spend and when I saw the prices I bought them both and didn't even try to reseal the old ones. I think it was less than $100 for both and they were Asins.

$42 at Amazon for a new Aisin. Don't fool with the rebuild.
