Traffic Advisor- PA

I am a volunteer fire fighter in PA. I have a quick question. I do a lot of roadside assistance (ie Flat tires, cars that need jumped, etc.) on top of being a firefighter. The light laws for whatever reason are a little confusing to me. Can I have a traffic advisor in my car window that I only use when performing roadside assistance? I understand that certain lights can only be activated while I am stationary. Can someone clear this up and help to answer my question? Thanks.

I just have to ask what is a traffic advisor ??

If your doing Road Service the Amber lights service vehicles use should be fine.

Not your Blue Lights used for Fire Calls

The traffic advisor is a bar you can mount on the outside or mount in the window of your car. It works like a directional arrow stick i.e. you can select left, middle, or right, and the bar will light up accordingly. Left: the bar will start on the right-most module and light up each module across the bar then it will reset. Middle: all the lights flash together to warn caution. Right: works the opposite of the left.
This is a good video that showcases it:

I probably should mention that I do not do road side assistance as a company or anything. Just as a good Samaritan in a way.

Now the rest of the story !!

Now I can understand I can only suggest contact your local State Police .

Don`t hold your breath for a answer

We have been waiting a few years about 10 for them to answer a question for us

Worse case they can only write you a ticket and take fancy light bar.

If your vehicle passes inspection with it installed not much they can say

In years past I did such things now with every one having phones I don`t bother.

Good Luck
