"ok perhaps someone who has a bit less coffie"
translation.... they make a switch, i used them in a circuit for emergency lights i designed, so the E-lights would stay on for a given period of time AFTER the power came on. fuel pump draws something like less than 15amp i think (look at the fuse for it) youll need the timmer and a relay to do it right. but at that point you might as well look at useing an off the shelf alarm for that matter.

Can i get an off the shelf alarm that cuts engine after given time? i am putting in a fake blinkie light, and then if they still break in than i don't really have a lot to steal or anything for that matter, but i know that these 1st gens are pretty popular among thieves, so i was hoping that if somebody walks by they would see the red light think it has an alarm and not try to brake in, if they plan on taking the car they might see the alarm but not really care because they plan to drive away real quick then brake in start the car, drive say 100 or 200 feet then car will suddenly die, and i wouldn't think they would take the time to pull the cd player or much else if they are only 150 feet away from where they stole it and they are dead in the middle of the street.
I have some circuit building skills so if it is possible to make a home made timer device with a switch and find a relay at a junk yard I just need something that will only start the timer if a given circuit is closed.

a fake blinkie light
is all you need. if they want it theyll get it.i am not aware of any off the shelf alarms but the circuit should not be hard to build. time delay relay and a hidden switch connected to the fuel pump or... pump will work for 1-X seconds unless main power is (secret) switched to on. itll be funny when YOU forget to switch it. alternatively you could wire a switch to the pump so it wont come on unless you want it on (same idea but easier)

i thought of the switch to pump because it would be really simple, but i figured when i leave it out at night with the top off and because you can start it with any key or even a screwdriver i didn't want somebody to try to start it and just hear a click or something then continue to steal everything out of it and move on. I was hoping that if they jump in, start it that they will be trying to get away as fast as they can so if it dies after 100ft then they are likely to just get out and run as apposed to sitting there and trying to speakers and other stuff. But you are right and i realize if somebody really wants it there is not a lot you can do if they have a trailer or something.

Back in the 70's a popular auto parts store item was an anti-theft time delay fuse in a plastic holder with a slide to activate. Standard size glass tube fuse would burn out in 1 - 2 minuets. Thief would run rather than trouble shoot a stolen car on the side of the road.
