Angry Stupid starter issue

First off, I hate wiring. 2nd, I'm not exactly where alot of these things are located in the pickup and I'm trying to find them. I am not getting any juice to the soleniod on the starter. I tested the ignition switch with a test light and I have power with each wire there. I had my wife hold the key in the start position while I tested the plug for the starter relay. Nothing. I was trying to follow the wiring diagram in the manual. I have a slight understanding of it. Diagram shows that for 22r with carb, ignition line goes from the ignition switch to the starter relay, but also through the clutch start relay? I found that right behind the glove box there is a relay there. What is it for? I can't find in the manual where it shows this. I looked only a couple of minutes last night, but it seems that the ingnition wires all run from under the dash towards that area. Or is the clutch start relay, that little white button behind the clutch pedal on the fire wall? This is an '86 by the way.

the white button should be for starting/ should not start if not pushed in. Are you getting fire to the relay under the hood, and have you ran a jumper from your battery to the starter to test it.

I wasn't getting anything from the harness that plugs into to start relay. Thats why I thought about starting at the ignition switch and working from cab to under the hood. Thats when I came across that relay by the glove box. Yes I tested the starter on the ground, but I haven't since I put it back on the motor, which actually would be a good idea so I can make sure my block is grounded.

I'm going through it too. I went to Kragen last night and couldn't find a relay anywhere. Maybe a car stereo place will have/sell them. Or Radio Shack? There is a few good how-to videos on different ways to use a relay on youtube.
