Red face Left parking Front parking light out Oh No!!

Getting ready to leave work last night after a short 13 hours my left front parking light (marker light) Is not working.

I guess the first thing to do is change the light in case it no longer works.

That didn`t help now what??(upon testing the light works fine)

I am scared to drive it like this. I can`t afford any more tickets it looks bad to the neighbors. When they come put you in cuffs .

Upon really looking at this it is now colder out and it was quite easy to see where some ne`er-do-well did some electrical troubleshooting this to me should be punished by stoning right there with using Scotch -Lok connectors.

Idiots that poke test lights or meter probes through the insulation of any wires just a inch from a connector.

Of course with the holes in the insulation the winter mix got in there and corroded the wires right off.

Since I was tired and cranky I figure to pull it inside and fix it right. This weekend.

In all I spotted the problem right away just wanted to go through the normal course of events to rule out another spot or different problem

So if this is you poking holes be aware your only going to cause more problems unplug and test things at connectors.

If it is in between two most times damage to the harness is easy to see.

If just one person learns from this it is at start.

It is a habit to look for those punctures just about every time that will be the cause of the problem.

All fixed for now but the alternator looked like it should be replaced the belt was a little worn.

Not sure why these trucks wiring gets so butchered. I spend more time putting it back to the way Toyota had it. There are plenty of adapters that just plug and play for most accessories. That is a common wiring problem I see a lot of. Hopefully someone will learn from your problem and not do it in the future.

Apparently you've never had any 70's and under hot rods. There be some truly idiotic butchering going on in that arena too.

That would depend on the slackers you hung around with.

In anycase Scotch lok connectors and wire nuts are my go to of Choice and of course Romex wire is great!!

The scary part some might think is serious !!

#8 works better that way you don`t waste cable ties because it stays put where you place it.

I've seen plenty of them, both 2 wire and three wire.

Guy I went to high school withs' parents had an old IH McCormick Deering baler that would'nt die. It had a cracked block that put water into the oil, so you had to put fresh oil in it every time it was run.
His mom was the only one who could sucessfully adjust the tension and get the wire mechanism to tie off. They used it for many years, and I think they still have it out in the scrap corral. I bucked plenty hay that it baled.
