how can I determine the amp output of my 3.0 4runner?

Im looking to replace the alternator and found some really good deals in JC Whitney catalog. They list several different alternators, with different amp ratings. How can I determine the amp rating of my stock alternator,
still in the 3.0 4runner? I do have a LCD Digital multimeter.
any help?
any tips for when I do go to knucklebust the old one out and the new one in?
Thanx all

i doubt a multimeter will measure that many amps, although an amprobe liked the ones used in HVAC work might read that high, depending on the meter you get. but i noticed once in my under-hood fuse panel, there is a fuse that is labeled as alternator, and it's an 80 amp on i believe...

wow, 10 amps extra for an extra $100, that is jaw-dropping. but i say go with one from somewhere like the JCWhitney or even Summit or Jegs that you know will fit and know has a higher output...

even then unless your actually pulling XX amps, the meter wont assist.
it displays what is actually going through the meter, not the maximum output.
