Help with light wiring

Ok so I just got my first toyota. The bed was rusted to crap so I built a nice flatbed. Now I am trying to figure out how to wire in my new tail lights. I only want to run a total of 4 lights. 2 on each side. When I hook everything up, I get the following -

Brake light - brake is fine on its own but I can't don't get any change between tail and brake when running lights are on.

Turn - No flash if running light is on, and no flash when brake light is on.

I know that stock there is a total of 3 lights on the tail light not including the reverse, but I only want to run two. So if anyone knows of a way to wire this all please please help me. I really need to get my truck back to streetable.

Thanks

im doing the same thing with my 93 pickup which only have 3 lights with reverse and my wiring diagram shows to connect the turn and brake light together and the running lights separate. my backup and running lights are fine but i can only have turn or brake.

What Elton said. There is a trailer converter that takes the signals and converts them to what you need.
