harbor freight off road lights

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=3029

I know the quality of them will be fairly low, but $20 for two lights and wiring still seems like a pretty good price. Anyone have any experience with them? Harbor Freight sells a bunch of different lights, but these seems like the best deal. thoughts??

my experiences at Harbor Freight have been pretty good but you just have to be careful on what you buy. Take a good look at the lights, the cases, the gauge of the wire, ect. If it all checks out good looking i would say give them a try. For the price they seem like a decent deal but I would definitely want to give them a good look over at the store.

I laughed at this detail on the website on the lights

"Unbreakable high-polish metal reflector"

You know that red is positive and black is negative, right?

Ha Ha, just couldn't resist. Harbor Freight does sell some cheapo junk, there's no denying that.

it's still a fun place to spend a few bucks though, even if half the stuff you buy falls apart before the end of the week...

Dont get me wrong...they do sell some nice, cheap (disposable) hand tools and stuff. I have some jackstands, face shield, junk like that....

I forgot that we have a chop saw we got from there that has been functioning perfectly for about a year and a half....just be cautious...and keep a fire extinguisher handy

i dont know, they are 100 watt, and they have the H-3 bulbs in them. if im not mistaken thats what the Hella 500's come with. so for a third of the price i would give them a try.

Well i got some for 17.99. Works for me. Hooked them up so far they work good. havent had them in the bark yet. I hooked them up to my high beams with a relay, but when i turn all the lights off and the DRLs are on the relay just constantly ticks and really loud and annoying, I dont know if its the relay or something with the way the DRLs are wired up. Any thoughts?

You can get rectangular ones from Wal-Mart for the same or less. But for $20, it's worth the investment. You might decide you like another design better, later. Then your only out $20.

A buddy of mine has a GREAT expression about HF tools and things. They all eventually turn into Hammers. Just some sooner than others.

That is a great expression. They way im looking at it, i know they will go out sometime in the near future but im able to see what i like i what i dont like before i spend 70+ on a pair of hella's. The BF ones are a nice beam which works, but i saw a thread that had corner lenses and next time i would rather have those on the front. Currently im using the HF lights as part of my high beams.
