I've had a non-functioning dome light for years now. Finally started troubleshooting and verified +12V at connector to dome assembly and bad assembly rivets/solder contacts. New assembly was working until my meter probe raked across + and gnd terminals that the connector goes into. Now I only get 0.3V and the radio/clock/enviro panel light are not getting power. Have checked all fuses in interior box. Dome fuse has +12 at the terminal but the connector at the top of the box that has the two wires (b-w and b) going to the dome light that used to read 12V now has only the 0.3V. Any thoughts as to what I zapped?

You opened a fuse .

You checked the fuse with your meter ??

If a fuse did not open then you have a physical break in the circuit

Most years the light circuit goes thru the door chime box located just above the steering column. If it is disconnected or removed, the light will not operate from the drivers side but will operate on the passenger side. The box I am talking about is for the years 92ish and older, not sure if 93 uses the box or not. Might want to check that box and see if it is shorted out or something similar.

I've traced the wires from the fuse box to the top of the A post and they don't connect with anything else so my '93 must be after the chime box you mention. I will post what I find if and when I remove the interior fuse box to see what's happened from the hot fuse terminal to the upper connector.

Pardon the ambiguity. I measured 12V at the hot terminal where the dome fuse seats. With 2 different 15A fuses with 0 ohms resistance, I got only 0.3V at the two wire dome connector at the box top. Will report when I dismount fuse box and see what's up.
