cigarette lighter question
ok, so those of you in california are familiar with the new law that went into effect today... you have to use a hands free device with your cell phone when you're driving. so i plugged my bluetooth into my cigarette lighter today, and the fuse popped. so i replaced the fuse, and tried again. popped again. so i took the radio bezel off, and slapped myself. i have the sr5 clock, the stereo, and the cigarette lighter on the same line! so my question is this: would i be able to run a line directly from the battery to the cigarette lighter? or does it HAVE to be on an ignition line? any help would be appreciated.

That should be fine as long as you want constant power. You should probably at least install an inline fuse. For my cig lighter I just wired it to a fuse that was hot all the time in the fuse block in the cab.
