Blinker Mod question

soo..i know to put the blinkers up into the marker lights you gotta drill out the housing...do this and that..

but..why cant i just take the single wire that went from my blinker bulb.....and hook it onto my marker bulb?????..

i know that i wouldnt have marker lights anymore...but wouldnt that work????????

AFAIK i dont need marker lights???...i dont even know why they are there..lol

yes..the marker lights are small wattage..but if you dont care(like me) its just about the easiest mod you will ever do..

cut the Power wire that runs to your original blinker (green with black stripe and red dash)..

Cut the ground wire that runs to the marker light (white with black stripe)

tie the 2 wires together...and BOOM..you now have Marker light/Blinker combo...for FREE

i only did this because its short term..im eventually going to drill the housing..and use a dual filament bulb..that way the flash is brighter..but its plenty bright enough for now

I wonder if you could just throw another base in there for a different/brighter bulb. JB weld anyone?

yep you can do that...

basically drill it out..and throw the new one in with some JB weld..but you have to remember...the bulb will eventually burn out...

so you would need to do it more like 4Crawlers way..lol

I did that on a subaru of mine. Got two dual filament sockets and bulbs from NAPA, enlarged the hole and cut out slots for the locating and locking tabs, and wired it up with the existing wires and a good ground. I don't know whether the toyotas use a switched ground or not, but it would still be an easy thing to do as long as the light housing can support the bigger bulb.
