Alarm wiring issues 2nd gen pickup Help

I went to install my Viper alarm today; everything went smooth, except wiring the starter disable.

I used a test light to test a starter circuit under the steering column. I found a nice thick wire on the ignition switch harness that would only light up when in the key was in crank position (wire is red and brown). So I clipped the wire and just for peace of mind decided to see if the starter would crank and it not only cranks, but the truck starts.

I'm now completely baffled as I cannot find any other wires on this circuit that send juice to the starter while only in the crank mode. This is my first alarm install.

Any ideas of which wire should be used to disable the starter at the ignition switch? A scematic of all the wires off the switch would help

Truck is an 1985 carb 4x4 pickup
