'93 4Runner does'nt seem to like the water - Alt stops charging when wet out

This problem started for me with the battery dieing on me. I took a look and it was over 5 years old so figured I'd start with that which worked till that battery died on me. I tested the alt at the time by starting it and removing the terminal from the new battery and she still ran so thought problem solved. I then noticed the voltmeter guage moving with the signal lights and increasing with revs. To the point of the radio turning off and on with voltage drops and all my dash lights coming on at high revs. I then replaced the alt and things seemed to be fine yet again, voltmeter held steady. Now I go out and its wet and I notice my radio shuts off with a signal light, then notice the voltmeter guage slowly dropping as I'm driving, my only guess, my new alternator has stopped charging yet again. Leads me to believe corroded grounds or wires. I've traced them all out that I can see or think of and have looked through the manual. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has some ideas of spots to check first, splices, connectors, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I gave in and took it to the shop to have them charge me to do the same work I did checking all the wires and connectors. Their benefit was the tester for the alternator (which I so wrongly assumed was good as it was only 2 weeks old). Long story short, the new alternator was bad, fried everything apparently and they could find no reason for it. I had to buy a new one and pay them to install it and I'm still waiting on the warranty for the 2 week old dud.
