85 4runner rear window problem

I know I know another dreaded rear window problem. Sorry guys.
I was wondering if there is a way to test the rear window on a 85 4runner.
I noticed there was a tread explaining how to hook up a second gen window motor to a 12v battery.
Can this be done with a 1st gen?
Pictures would be helpful.
Thanks!

Yeah ive already read all of that.
Does anyone know how I can just test the motor?
I just need to get it down as I have a new tailgate waiting to be installed

Since the window is already up and you need it to go down it's going to be a little difficult. You'll need to crawl into the back of the truck, remove the carpet cover on the tailgate (screws) and then remove the metal protector plate under that (screws). This will expose the motor for the back window.

From here you need to locate the black plastic connector which has 2 wires running from it to the rear window motor. It is a click together type of plastic connection. Anyways, unconnect that black connection so you can see the two prongs/connectors inside of the black connector. It should look similar to the image below (minus the wiring to the switch since you will be bypassing it).

Now from there you need to take two long wires and connect them from the window motor connection to the + or - of your battery. If you connect them and they do nothing, reverse them so the + is now on the - and the - is now on the +. This won't harm it as it just controls which direction the window moves.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions and I'll give you a hand.

Like it says on that page:

connect 12 volts to one of the motor terminals and the other to ground. To test the other direction, swap power and ground connections.
