85 22re wiring diagrams
Hi I just recently purchased a 85 toyota 4x4 ext cab pickup. The day I picked it (5 weeks ago) on the trip home (about 30 miles) the timimg chain managed to jump a tooth. When I got it to my shop it only took 30 min to find the damage was too extensive (broke off exhaust valves in 3 and 4) to waste time and money to fix. So I searched craigslist and found a used one for $500 and decided to take the chance on it. Needless to say I got took on it. It had had the same issue and the guy just put new timing chain and cover on it and posted it. So after a bit of reconciling with him he elected it would be much cheaper for him to come buy his boat anchor back from me immediately. Anyway that was when I decided to get a decent crate motor.
This whole endeavor has been a pain staking process and considerably expensive as well. I dare not say how much I have into it when my wife is around cause I'm just barely back in her graces over it.
Anyway after taking much time in matching paint and polishing all the parts I realized that there was no way I could put the old wiring harness on it as it was. So I broke it down and am glad I did. I am not sure how it was running before I got it. It was a mess to say the least.
I am all but finished now but I'm having trouble finding a diagram which shows me how the alternator is correctly wired. The wiring is not colored correctly to start with so I thought I'd see if anyone could help me make sure I got it wired correctly.

I HATE YOU! - LOL!
You probably have an alternator with built-in regulator, correct?
This would have built-in connector like below (pic is of 1986-1988 22RE)
Schematic for 1986-1988 is here. Should be the same as 1985 IF, and only IF, you have alternator with built-in regulator.
NOTE:
White "S" actually taps into thick "B" wire before B wire connects to fuse block.

Like Rad is showing. The wire that connects to the alternator is just a short pig tail wire coming out of the harness. It is an 8 or 10mm size connector that goes to the alternator.
You will have a long black wire that has a bigger connector that I think is 12 or 14mm size hole that is a ground wire. You really cant get them backwards.
