1993 Toyota truck to 1947 Ford no brake lights

I started putting this frankenstein together a couple of weeks ago. It was a 1993 Toyota Truck w/ 22re and 5 speed. I stripped it down to the frame, motor and harness and put a 1947 ford truck on it. So far have gotten pretty far its running and driving. As of now the harness in the truck is all stock except for the ignition. That was butchered before I came into the picture.

My issue is with the brake lights, With the ignition off I have constant power to both green/red and green/white wires on the brake light switch. If I remove the switch completely I still have constant power to both wires.

from searching I read green/red should be constant and green/ white should get power when switch is closed?? I followed both through out the harness and do not see anywhere the could be getting random power. I also tried searching for the schematic but do not understand it all that well. Trying to upload pics also but I think they are to large.

So your Brake lights are on all the time??

Just what lights are you using ??

What switch are you using the Toyota one??

Did you keep the Toyota Pedals or are you using the Ford ones.

Remember the brake light switch is closed when it is extended open when it is pushed in.

Just how are you measuring the voltage ??

Pretty simple circuit

Thanks for the quick reply. I am using some small trailer lights. I planned on just setting up running and tail lights for now. when scraping the yota I wasn't thinking and cut the pigtails going to rear lights.

I modified the stock pedals and assemblies to work so yota pedals.
I am using the toyota brake light switch.
And I am just using a continuity tester.
With the brake light switch unplugged Both green/red and green/white have power. If I plug in brake light switch nothing changes. If switch is depressed or open both still have power. I cut green/white a few inches after switch to test switch. when not depressed both green/red and green/white light up. when depressed only green/red lights up. I thought green/white getting outside power but don't see anywhere its coming in when I follow the wires.

Also I read all white/black and black/white are grounds is this correct? I have 9 rear wires on right tail light 3 sets of 2 are the same. would you by chance now what they are?? Thanks again for your help.
I thought getting the body on with steering and pedals would be the hard part but the details are killing me.

Using a continuity tester is what is causing you to not read what you think you are.

A continuity tester just tells you that you have a complete circuit.

Spend a few dollars get a cheap Multimeter .

The Green/Red wire is the wire supplying voltage to the switch.

White/black is pretty much always the ground but always verify

Remember the Toyota has a separate turn signal if your trying to wire up lights with one double filament bulb you need one of those converter boxes like your wiring trailer lights.

Tail lights should be a green wire

Back up lights from the switch are red/black

Left turn green/black

right turn green/yellow

No telling if this is correct things get changed all the time .

I hope that helps

Wyoming9 thanks that helped alot I found the wire that was powering the switch had power but the one going to the lights was cut near the gas tank.

I was wondering if you knew anything about the headlight switch system??

Im trying to install a push/pull switch style switch to the headlights and running lights heard I needed a grounded switch.I had it all wired up with jumpers off the original wires and switches etc and it works.

I got another connector from the junkyard with just the wires no switches and when hooked up the same as the other connector the headlights do not work. Running lights work and I can hear headlight relay when I connect the wires but no lights.

I have found the following so far from the headlight/high beam and wiper switch connector.

white/white/red small wires in separate bundle operate low beam/ running lights
1) white -constant ground
2)white -running lights
3)red- headlights
4)red/green- high beam
5)white/black-ground
