Extending the rear diff breather line is a must-do mod. It's cheap, easy, and quick and requires next to no mechanical expertise. It cost me all of about $20 and 30 minutes of my time. I ordered 2 parts, a union fitting used as an intake manifold fitting (part number 90404-51319) and a small breather plug (part number 90930-03136) from toyotaparts4u.com for about $12 shipped.
I also picked up about 6 feet of fuel line for about $6, and a 4-pack of small hose clamps for $2. Both came from AutoZone.
I dropped the spare tire to give myself some room to work (it's kinda funny... with my lift, and the rear tire dropped, I can sit up straight underneath my rig-I think it's funny anyway). I used a small adjustable wrench to remove the old breather filter, and replaced it with the union fitting. I then attached one end of the fuel line to the fitting, and secured it with a small hose clamp. I ran the hose along the brake line and up the gas tank fill tube, leaving a little extra slack to allow for axle drop.
I used zip ties to secure the hose. I then opened the gas hatch and removed the rubber fitting around the fill tube (NOTE: do not try to loosen the nut for the release latch.
There is a tension cable used to control the latch that is easily dislodged-I know from experience. The tension cable can be re-seated, but it's tight working in there.). I fed the hose out through the opening and attached the new breather plug and used another hose clamp to secure it. I then ziptied the hose to the fill tube to prevent and rattles.
