Disable the "door buzzer" on a 89 pickup

I silenced my door buzzer like this on my 1989 pickup. it's less destructive than drilling a hole or cutting wires, and less hassle than installing a switch.

The door buzzer is located inside a module that plugs into the backside of the fuse panel behind the driver side kick panel.

it's held in place by 1 12mm bolt and a locking tab at the top of the panel. remove the bolt and press the tab down while pulling out on the panel.

once the panel is free, turn it over and you'll see the module that is plugged into the back of the panel.

the module is held in with 2 locking tabs, you can see one just below the green and black wire in the photo. there is another on the opposite side.

once the module is removed, you can see the location of the buzzer.

open the module and pop the printed circuit board out of the plastic case using a screwdriver. on the back side of the PCB you'll see the traces and solder joints, we need to slice completely through just one trace.

That's it. silence is golden!

If you later decide to re-activate the buzzer just scratch away some of the enamel that covers the trace on either side of the slice so that you can solder a jumper over the cut.

I have a few other images taken during the process, check my picture album here.
