Garmin V Mount Adapter - 2nd Gen 4Runner

Garmin V Mount Adapter

This is what I started out with, The wood cutout is 1/8" plywood and the epoxy was one of those "epoxy in a tube" kits ( I used a marine grade because of a 15 minute dry time

Here to protect the dash I wrapped it all in saran wrap. ( I also put a piece of aluminum foil in between where the epoxy was to be placed (for heat dissipation)

This is the epoxy shaped to the dash and leveled using the "bulls-eye" level. I carefully lifted it off the dash along with the saran wrap to keep the heat from the dash

Here is a test fit after sanding the edges smooth, Once I knew it was going to fit and be level, I gave it a coat of primer and satin black spray paint

This is a shot of the base attached to the freshly painted base all ready to mount to the dash

Here is what it looks like all togather. In hindsight, I would of moved it to the right about 6".. But what is done is done.

I decided later to mold a groove in the bottom and drill a hole thru the dash for the cable to be fed thru the dash and to be hard wired.. This was a major step and the dash is never to be the same.. But if I did ever take it off, I figured I would put a piece of Velcro there like a radar detector should mount there and you will never see the hole.. I have no plans on removing the GPS.. To date I have logged over 35 thousand miles with my Garmin V and it is still amazing. I highly recommend buying the V over the lower priced models.
