Ignition cutoff not working.

OK, I have installed a couple of alrams before, but this one is driving me nuts.

I have everything working, except the ignition cutoff.

It has a relay that is hooked to a socket that is prewired. The two thick lines were used to splice into the starter/ignition wire.

The other pins have an orange wire and a yellow wire that go back to the unit. No problem there.

Here's where I think my problem is. The yellow wire also has anotehr yellow wire coming off of it. The vague instructions say to wire it to ACC (I/O +), I assume this means the accesory on the ignition harness, so I put it there.

The ignition does not get cutoff when I arm the alarm. I can start it no problem. If I remove the relay, the car does not start of course. I tried a relay that I know works and it still would not cut it off.

So, I tried disconnecting the yellow wire form the ACC, didn't seem to make a difference either way.

Any suggestions on what to try or where to hook that yellow wire to?

Ok, I take it this is a Viper/Clifford/DEI alarm. Here is the thing, the green and black wires go on either side of the starter wire. You have to cut the starter wire in half, the green goes to key side, and the black to starter side. The yellow then gets attached to the IGN (+) wire. Then, your starter disable will work. If you just splice into the starter wire, there is nothing to go into and out of the relay. If this makes sense....awesome!! If not, just PM me, and I'll explain more.

Alarm companies are sloppy amateur at documenting.

There are 2 two types of alarm connections: CUT and 'T' TAP. Most connections are 'T' tapped to vehicle wiring. Ignition wires are 'T' TAP to vehicle IGnition, ACCessory, Constant 12v. The STarter (ignition) wires are CUT, so 2 wires, one to starter side and one to key side. That way, starter is disabled when armed.

Those are the connections. Now DMM meter test the voltages.

The IGnition is generally NOT cutoff, unless you custom CUT ignition for added security.
The STarter usually IS cutoff, CUT, disabled with relay.

Brain -> relay -> 12V constant -> T-TAP -> enables IGnition
Brain -> relay -> CUT -> disables STarter
Brain -> relay -> 12V constant -> T-TAP -> enables STarter (for remote start)

That's what it looks like. :-)
