you should let us konw what kind of factory alarm it is in order to help you

pull the fuse fro the alarm. (make sure it start after you pull the fuse) this will help you and you can take it into have it look at. same alarm will work and some do not.you my need to replace the alarm. I have a viper in my 4runner. I love it.
