Have a 2000 4runner SR5 and one of the two original Toyota remotes broke, so I purchased a new one online thinking I could program easily...unfortunately not the case!
I have searched this site and found the correct remote programming instructions...driver door open, 5x door locks, door close/reopen, 5x door locks again, insert key on/off/out...then I should get some type of acknowledgment from the door locks but that never happens. Have tried this maybe a dozen times but can't seem to get into the programming mode.
I purchased the vehicle off a lease so not exactly sure what's installed. I know that an Audiovox Pursuit PRO 9232 upgrade module was installed at some point. There is a small red light on the dash just to the right of the dash dimmer knob that is the alarm LED.
I've triple checked the procedure and it also matches the procedure sent to me where I purchased the remote. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I really don't want to take to Toyota for help and pay $$ if I don't need to.
Thank you, Jon
