Alarm/Keyless entry remote not working
The past few days it's been taking a few clicks for the keychain remote to lock or unlock the 4Runner. It has the stock Toyota alarm system. It's eventually work, it just sure doesn't work first try.
I was thinking it's just the battery in the remote, so I tried the spare one. Same thing. Now both of the remotes are from the day I got the truck, so both a little over 4 years old.
Maybe both have bad batteries?
Everything else is working fine, any other ideas?
Also, how much are those things?
I plan on stopping by Toyota later this week, but I want info now! haha

well, batteries are cheap, so why not replace those and see?
i have heard of the piezo chirper unit going bad, but not the actual lock actuators, I would say you have more of a remote problem than you do a system problem, so check the batteries first.

I had the same problem in both of my remotes. Changed the batteries in both of them and they are working perfectly now. Use a small coin to open the unit, get the battery type/model and replace them.
Like 04RT said, its the cheapest way to test the unit. If its not the battery, then you may be paying more $$$ for new units. Batteries shouldn't be more than 5 or 6 bucks.

you can actually goto the dealership and ask him to to do a signal check on it. free usually. if nothing comes up, and battery doesnt fix it. get a new one
these remotes are everywhere on ebay for like 25 bucks, where I got mine instead of the 125 version from the stealerfags.

Keyless entry problem
I am having the same issues with my 4runner. what solved your problem? I tried new battery, then bought new keyless remote. the next step is to try the sensor on the 4runner?
