Just picked-up a '97 Camry LE for my son (we are the 3rd owners). Great car, but come to find out, I never received the keyless fob...
Last night we brought it home and parked it in the garage, the next morning I find only the parking lights were on -- no idea for how long. Somehow I was able to correct that... Then this afternoon, while I was out of town, my son calls and the horn is blaring!!! in the background. The car was just sitting in the garage. He ran to the neighbor's, who came over and stopped it. This evening it happened again!!!! I disconnected the ECU, but I'm at my wits end on this. Without the ECU connected the vehicle is useless. How do I stop it or get rid of it??? TWL |

Look around for the alarm "brain". It's likely under one of the seats. When you find it, just unplug the harness from the unit and you're good to go.
The manuals for that alarm can be found on Bob's site. Good luck!

I've disconnected the ECU (Brain) but the vehicle will not "Start" without it plugged in... or may be I'm confused on what you me by the "harness"?

My bad, I didn't read all of that, evidently.
How many harnesses plug into the side of the brain of you alarm? Mine has three. I'd try unplugging them, one at a time..and finding a combination that works. Did you unplug them all?

Exactly... 3 plugs.
In desparation I unplugged all from the ECU and threw it in the back seat -- the horn was blaring, so I wasn't thinking about combinations of plugs... I plugged the center (large) plug in, and this at least started the vehicle - so I left it. And having done some reading, this seems to "trigger" the system that a power-outage has occured - thus the blaring horn. I'm thinking of taking it to a local dealer on Monday and have them "totally" disarm the system. Didn't buy the car for the gadgets, just some my son can take to school / job, etc... Any other thoughts and suggestions are welcome. |

download the install manual from my website, just follow it from the back page and start untapping all the wires. it literally will take you 2 hours at the most if you are working really slow. it is NOT rocket science. you can do it.
