What lift and wheels would you run in the NC Mountains?

Ok...I've been asking around on here for a while about lifts/tires and such. I have decided that I want to get the Sonoran Steel lift for my Tacoma. Herein lies the problem.....I live in the NC Mountains.

I use my rig for running to hunting/fishing grounds (1.5-2hrs drive), camping, etc. It's also my daily driver. I am not afraid to take it off road but I don't really have many places around here that I'd really have to have anything better than stock. I have never felt that I couldn't go somewhere with my truck as it sits right now.

Well shocks need replacing as most of you know, so I called the dealer about some new stuff and it is gonna cost about what a Sonoran Steel lift would cost. They quoted me for 500 a piece for the rear leafs!!! I dunno how much they are from Alcan Spring but I doubt they can be too much more than that...maybe less??

Anyhow, this is my dilemma. I don't really NEED a lift, I don't really NEED bigger tires.....but I want them so so bad!!!!!

BUT I have all these mountains to deal with and a bunch of drive time to most of my off-roading ventures when I'm hunting and such. I don't want to strap on 33 inch tires and strain my 3.4 V6 and transmission going up mountains at highway speed and have considerable power loss to boot, if that would even be the case?

So my question is this......

What tires would you run in my situation and what height would you set the lift for as the SS lift for Tacos is adjustable from 1.5 to 3 inches of lift???

Thanks everyone, this has been on my mind for a while. I want my truck to be the baddest it can be but she's still my daily driver....I'm just confused on the direction I should take.

And Steve...if you read this post I apologize if I should have just emailed you but I've been feeling like I was hitting you up with too many questions as of late. Thanks for answering all of them!!
