on my 4runner on the rear wheelwell there is a rusted spot about 3x2 inches i need to cut it out and fix, i don't have a welder to weld in a new section and can't bring it somewhere to be fixed. Could I solder on a piece of body panel if i cut it out and then bondo it? by the way its a '95 and i live in new england

I think it will just rust again (esp. being in New England). Have a welder come there and weld it.

You could fiberglass it then spray it will some kind of anti-rust paint. It wont look as pretty though or be the same quality as sheet metal replacement

yeah...x2 on the welded sheet metal...however...if u must..you can always cut out the bad section, then pop rivet some new metal in, then bondo and paint.. I will not look pretty...but it will do..I have done this to many fords, and usually it holds well

I was talking with a guy who was chopping a bug he spot welded all his joints I asked what kind of bondo was he going to use he showed me a can of this stuff called metal2metal he said to use it first then do bondo over that.

I too live in new england and have done alot of body work on my yota. i used this stuff called tiger hair its like bodo with fiberglass matting in it. to cover the hole with it just mix it with the harder,spread it out on plastic sheeting, and then press it over the hole. Then just sand and paint. If you dont wanna do that then pop rivits and sheet metal works great too. But the problem with that is the area around the hole is probley rusted to hell too. what it did after realizing that bondo can only fix so much was go to wal-mart buy a cheap 100$ stick welder and weld on new sheet metal.

Step 1) buy a set of these http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/IM000958.JPG.
Step 2) cut out rusty sheet metal.
Step 3) using 3M body panel adhesive http://news.thomasnet.com/fullstory/454581 , attach metal strips behind old panel to allow new patch panels to adhere to.
Step 4) use body filler to fill gap, then a high build primer.

"Trucks" did a similar cab repair on their Project S-10K.

I got a quote and I would love get those but after shipping it is almost a grand a 30 dollar can of bondo is cheaper for a 5 year fix or more if done right.

my buddy has a 4runner with no holes I have been looking into making my own mold from his to fix mine but for the amount of hours spent making the mold I probably will be better off buying them from cory.

Almost a grand? He sells them for $135 Canadian per piece. That's $270 for a pair. I'm not sure how it runs you $700 for shipping!
