Ya, I have seen that video a while back mainly because I am a fan of that show. Even though I will never be willing to do that to my truck, it just goes to show you that toyotas are some well built trucks.

just die already
The Auto transmission on my 94runner just wont die.HEck it doesnt really show any real signs of thinking about it.Sure the shift from 1st to 2nd when the unit is cold is about as crisp as a corn flake thats been in milk a little too long but c'mon 217k on it and it can still hold a gear all the way close to redline.sure it leaks a little, sure it didnt get its oil changed from 110k to 195k,I even tried serveral 5k rpm netual to drive drops when i was 16(back in 97),in hopes to kill it so that my parents would buy me a turbo eclipse. its out lived the original motor,a low budget rebuild of the orginal shorty and now its 54k into a new (at the time) OEm motor. ive driven with the ECT button on since 98...my Eclipse has gone through 4 transmissions..apparently 400whp going through any transmisson Mitsubishi has built is a bad idea....
How long do these toyota built trannys last? AS you can tell i havent really been gentle with it.although no Longer my daily driver i fear that the 4runner will out last my 2003 Silverado...I always told my self "when the tranny goes on the 4runner so does the rest of the car" Do you guys think that if i do one of the Bilstein power flushes, that ill blow whats left of those old seals?Probably.

Normally I am against the comments like the ones that transpired from your post, but in this case I think it is acceptable. However, if you are trying to destroy the truck, I think you should watch this video first as it will probably cost you more to try and destroy it then it would for you to completely rebuild the thing including fresh paint and new leather interior.
At this point in time I am about to replace a few of the IFS pieces, but still have yet to replace the ball joints. I am about to roll over 200K myself and was realizing I have restored all (engine, shocks, driveshaft, front axles, etc...) but what I just mentioned and the tranny, transfer case, and differential. I am floored these things have lasted so long with as little maintenance that I have given them. I changed the differential fluid once (just recently) and replaced the front oil seal (because it got crushed when my front u-joint busted doing 70mph down the freeway), changed the fluid in my tansfer case and transmission only once and never flushed them. (BTW - I think the unit you were thinking of is "wynns" as I don't think bilstien goes anywhere near transmissions, but I was half wrong once before in my life) In any case, I hope you come to your sense and realize what a solid life long vehicle you have. Treat the eclipse like crap all you want, but this 4Runner of yours is more dependable then you will ever be.
