That is AWESOME! GIves me a lot of confidence in my truck. Would like to drive one through all that. You do have to run it from their server to play, am trying to copy it locally...

the utter simplicity and reliability of a diesel...

What I found amazing was how it survived being completely under salt water with massive wave action for a full 8 hours...on it's side.

What is it that makes diesel engines like that? I have heard it before but remind me?

Amazingly high cylinder pressures.

A gasoline engine compresses at a ratio of 8:1 to 12:1, while a diesel engine compresses at a ratio of 14:1 to as high as 25:1. The higher compression ratio of the diesel engine leads to better efficiency.

Gasoline engines generally use either carburetion, in which the air and fuel is mixed long before the air enters the cylinder, or port fuel injection, in which the fuel is injected just prior to the intake stroke (outside the cylinder). Diesel engines use direct fuel injection -- the diesel fuel is injected directly into the cylinder.

Well I'm convinced. I won't push my gas engine this far but I'm quite confident in my truck. I wasn't able to get a local copy of this movie, and had to move onto other stuff. The temp files downloaded disappear as soon as the movie is ended. The file name given is actually redirected elsewhere so the file is streamed from another location.

i've always heard that you can fully submerse a diesel engine b/c there is no distributor cap and spark plug wires to short. I know there has to be more to it than that....Air intake, but it makes some sense.

I have only seen it posted two dozen times or so on various Toyota boards over the past year or so, so I am sure that *someone* here hasn't seen it yet...

(Just yanking your chain) (But it has been around a while.)

Wow...i guess toyota trucks can claim to be tough (ie., reference the Tacoma commerical with the angry girlfriend that throws a tacoma off the cliff).

Now i just love my truck that much more! An American maybe be powerful, but the chassis would have broke on the first hit into a tree.
