Throttle cable pulley sticking
I posted another thread (unrelated) about my RPMs spazzing out when I push the brakes. But this is a different problem. When I give the car some gas and let off the pedal, the throttle cable stays engaged slightly. I know it's not the cable. It happened a lot today and on one occasion, when it was still revving (at only 2000 RPMs) I pulled over to the side of the road and popped the hood. The cable had all the tension taken out, so it wasn't pulling at all on the pulley. The pulley itself was stick and couldn't snap back to its original position. So I gave it the tiniest tap and it snapped back and the engine idled like normal. I had some auto grease handy so I greased it as much as I could on all of the moving parts and inside the bearing. I greased it as well as I could for being on the side of the road and it still hasn't helped.
Any suggestions? Clean out the grease and try oil? WD-40 works temporarily, but wears away after one driving session.

I would start with the easiest thing first. Get a can of throttle body cleaner and spray the springs and moving parts on the outside. Take off the intake hose and spray a bit inside. Make sure to get the butterfly good. It pivots on a rod, get that good too. I used a toothbrush and scrubbed everything down then wiped it off as best I could. Finished it off with another little shot for lubrication.
Have you looked at the condition of the spring that holds it closed? If its weak maybe that could be your problem as well.

Already cleaned the throttle body. We did a head job on the truck and while everything was off we gave every part within reach a good scrubbing. Could very well be the spring. I think it's something binding, though.
