silent exhaust

I have seen exhaust silencers for 4 wheelers before. Has anyone seen such a thing for a truck, or know of a muffler that is more silent than stock. I also am packing under the hood and driveline with soundproof mat. I want the predator be stealth? any suggestions?

I believe super trap still sells the insert kits for 2 into Harley exhausts you could try that and see if it will work. I believe they are 2 1/2 inserts so you could possibly put them in your exhaust pipe, they help create back pressure for building power in the 2 into 1 who knows it may work.

Here is there chart for auto click on the part number and it will show you the silencers

http://www.supertrapp.com/find_my/results.asp

I just hit the link and found that you have to go to the top and click on the AUTO tab and it will show you the inserts.

Cool idea. Is this for sneaking into hunting spots or something? If so, i like it. Kinda like using one of the electric offroad golfcarts that are supposed to be super quiet. Keep us posted on what you find and how well it works.

around here...You are actually better off in the truck, the wildlife is used to hearing skidders and logging equipment. You get out and start crunching leaves tho, they will know somethins up.

How silent do you want it to be?

The thing is to control the expansion and cooling of the exhaust gas pulses. Headers help by providing a more constant flow (by timing the pulses so they are in series instead of on top of each other). Going to a larger tubing after the cat will allow it expand a little, then the muffler allows a little more, going to a larger tailpipe out of the muffler allows a little more. A tip like Borla makes will help some too.

At the extreme end of the scale, you can run more than one muffler in series.

A properly tuned engine with a functional cat and muffler should be plenty quiet - the tires will make more noise than the exhaust.

that is sort of what I am thinking, back to back mufflers, and might add a bypass valve for when I do want to raise hell.

Predator, how did this turn out? I want a quieter exhaust as well. The muffler that is on my runner now was installed by the po a few weeks before I bought it, but just a little too loud for my liking. It deffinatley needs some navy seal shiz done to it. I'm a fan of the stealth, no need to let everybody know I'm in the country.

I'll have one soon of a 3.0 at least I think its stock, kinda looks like what I cut out of my 22re.
Can't say when exactly. I have a ton on my honey do list first.

23, 26 just wait then. Just give it some time and You will not care about the loud exhaust.

I have certain tones I have trouble hearing so the exhaust does not bother me too much. It works good also because I can tell the lil lady that I didn't hear her she was talking in the def-tone. I don't think she believes me though she just goes along with it.

So, the stock muffler it is. I called one of the muffler shops around here and a stock muffler would be about $160 installed. That's not too bad, but I think I would rather just get a used one.

I prefer a quiet exhaust for wheeling, I want to hear my spotters and what my truck is doing on the trails.
