Show off your Toyota BUG OUT VEHICLE! (definition inside)

Definition: A bug out vehicle is a vehicle that will make it possible for you to escape a natural or man-made disaster without finding yourself stuck with a useless pile of metal that doesn’t have the ability to go through a shallow stream or for that matter, a crumbled road surface. It should be able to traverse obstacles and be able to go off-road if needed. Preferably it would have 4x4 or more capability. It should be sturdy and reliable in most kind of weather and terrain conditions. It should be simple in design and function, with not a lot of useless gadgets that you don’t need. A short wheelbase and good ground clearance are also highly desirable too. The ability to tow or be towed or winched out is very important also. Should be equipped with gas cans, tools, camping gear, food, survival equipment, generators, cb radio, ect..

Has anyone built their Toyota with this in mind? I would love to see some set ups.

Wait...isn't this kinda like another "post your ride" thread??
I mean: your definition defines Toyota. So basically, post your pics again!?

Well a little different. I was hoping more people would have BOVs. As in rigs with all the gear in them almost 24/7, gas cans, extra tires, ect.. Even looking to see if people had some BOV trailers. But yeah i suppose it is a bit similar.

This is exactly what I built my 4runner for although if I have to actually out run anything very fast then I'm screwed.

I could spend weeks out in the wilderness with my rig if I had to.

Rear storage for dehydrated food, small stove, ect for if stuck somewhere, and more room now with the Powertank off to the side

Cold grub storage via ARB fridge/freezer

Gimme shelter, solar will keep batteries charged up while running fridge

Communications, ham and CB

Water crossing, dust protection

Chuckbox for cooking gear

Gotta get gear in order for camping 2012...

Oh, and a pair of Glocks and a pair of ARs too

Corey, I am thinking Terminator Salvation survival with that truck. I was pretty happy with my rig until I just saw these pictures... Now I need to get a loan to add some more stuff to my money pit!

Thanks, it has been a fun build, and not done yet.
I still need a rear bumper.

Awesome Rig!
Thanks!
I enjoy spending my BB's on it
I am really looking forward to 2012s camping season.

I built this rig up with the intention of being able to camp about anywhere with it and be self sufficient.
I really enjoy exploring the old growth forest roads in the Greenwater area in the shadow of Mount Rainier.
Lots of free places to pull down a forest road and camp for free.
Some by a lake, a stream, or a waterfall.

Man Corey I hope I can do my next build better. Looking at getting a 4th gen 4runner and doing the roof top tent like you did along with some other goodies that I'll steal from your build thread(s). Maybe now that I know what I'm doing (sort of) I can just buy the parts I want once and be done with it instead of doing things three or four times.

Weapons-multiples of the same kind are always a good thing for ammo and magazine compatibility..get common calibers you will find ammo anywhere..

Corey is thinking along the right train of thought IMO..but to me an F350 outfitted with similar stuff and 150 gal of fuel capacity would probably be my choice. I would love one of these:
