Seafoam Video
I know that there's alot of threads that talk about seafoam, but I figured that this deserved a new one; possibly make it a sticky, as it really clears things up a lot of questions.

??? They have a couple, but the stuff he's running in the bike will be the same as what we would run in our trucks.

I am having some trouble with idling, and it was recommended to try Seafoam. Checkout this thread for my issue.
http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=107602 The PCV valve is easy to get to on my truck. So all I have to do is remove the PCV valve and pour it into the hose? Should I remove the PCV valve from the hose, or pour it into the valve? |

I just picked up a bottle of their trans-tune. I figured I might as well run it through the system before my flush.

Is it just me, or does anybody else disagree with the speed of pouring they demonstrate? I am pretty sure someone managed to hydro-lock their engine using this stuff, and the recommended "stalling out" procedure is pretty scary.
When I did mine, I poured it a lot slower, but maybe I am wrong and that negates the purpose of this stuff...

Umm... Yeah, I TOTALLY disagree with pouring it in until the engine stalls. Outside of the hydrolock issue, you simply won't get enough into the engine to make the most difference.

I always pour it slow and then pour it to a stall. No problems on over 5 cars multiple times.

Ok, why dont we clear this up once and for all
Everyone who keeps saying it can hydrolock a motor or blow a hole in the block... How many of you can PROVE this? None of this, someone said here so im passing on that info. Please, proof, evidence, pictures..PLEASE. I didnt add it as fast as they do in that video but maybe for best results you NEED to add it that fast otherwise to much, or majority of the product burns off instead of coating the piston heads, valves, etc... Sick of the hearsay about this product.

That video reminds me of something you would see on TV @ 2AM, "Just take this one pill and it will grown your hair back, undo cavities in your teeth and remove intestinal gases"..Buy it now and I'll throw in a pill you put in your engine oil that will rebuild your bearings.." Only thing missing is the guy didn't have a Limey accent....The stuff may work but I've seen posts here and on other board that mention certain side effects, throwing codes, AF sensor troubles, plugs & etc.
Here is a thread about a trashed engine.. http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=5594&page=2 Doug |

they want you to pour it till it dies so that the product sits on the piston and valves and goes to work. I dont think it would ever hydrolock an engine. a few ounces of fluid in 4 or more cylinders isnt very much. we did it to my firends tacoma recently and it smoothed out the idle

I did the treatment today. I put about 1/3 of the can in the PCV line to the intake, and towards the end the engine started to stutter. I turned it off, waited 5 min, then fired it up. A good amount of white smoke came out, and I gave it a drive. I put the rest of the can in my gas tank. I drove it around for about 10 minutes, and smoke was still coming out. I just got back from the grocery, and whenever I stopped at a light I could see some smoke coming out.
Is it normal for smoke to be coming out like this? BTW, Seafoam didnt solve my idle problem, so Im stumped on what my problem is ![]() |

Yeup! It's the stuff burning off.
btw, 5 minutes is a pretty short amount of time to let it sit. 2 hours is good, over-night is better,.

fwiw, there are a couple of "big" Seafoam threads here: http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=69490 http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=64836 It's a lot of reading, but there's a lot of discussion.
