Ready to Herculine?

I've been looking at the threads about Herculining the crome bumpers. I purchased everything I need and just wanted to know how you Prep the bumper and grills that are cromed? Do you do them just the way you would normal painted metal? Thanks!

Have to sand/etch them REALLY well or the paint won't stick.

Be sure not to get Herculiner on your hootus!

I just did mine....

I used a sander that hooks up to an air compressor. Took a while to scuff up the rear bumper. Front bumper ends weren't as bad. I'd say go for it...just need to sand the chrome until you can't see a good reflection in it any more. Hardest part is going back and hitting all those little spots you missed. If I had it to do over again I'd hit the majority of the rear bumper with a belt sander and touch it up with my air compressor sander. The one that hooks up to the compressor spins in a circular motion and the disk is only about 3 inches in diameter. Needless to say it took me a while!!!
