Thanks all, maybe it is a rav4, the SUV/ station wagon deal made by Toyota, just wanting to here from someone who owns one or knows something about them.

good on gas and seats more than one person is very non-specific if that's all your requirements are. A Prius gets like 55mpg and seats 5....hell, my Corolla seats 5 and gets 37mpg hwy with a lead foot and ac running.
The Rav4 seats 5 and comes in both FWD and "4wd". Mileage kinda depends on the year, engine, and transmission. My neighbor has a 98 2wd Rav4 with 5spd and it gets high 20s up to 30mpg on highway I think the 4wd version of the same year gets maybe 2mpg less. Have a family friend with a 2005-ish Rav4 2wd/auto and she gets around mid 20s highway - this is likely because the newer versions have more stuff on them and are heavier.
The "4wd" version of the Rav4 doesn't have any low gear or true 4wd system. It's more like an AWD but not quite since it's still mostly a 2wd system with an electronic coupling to the rear axle to give it "4wd". Look it up for more specific info.

My in laws have a 98ish rav4 and they love it. It's now their backup vehicle cuz they can't seem to let go of it. It has 200,000+ miles on it and runs perfect other than consuming a bit of oil. They average around 30 mpg and I can vouch for that. I drove it to college for about a month while my 'heep' was down. Oh and it's a 4wd model 5 speed. I think it's a blast to drive, kinda like a go cart lol.
