Pulling a Travel Trailer with my Yota
Just thought I'd ask here, the sales guys at camperworld etc.
might oversell me.
A consensus on what a 91 22RE 5speed 4X4 standard cab in good running
shape could safely pull.
I got myself a $60 deal with a monster Class3 Curt receiver which I believe is over capable
to what the rig can tow but (better too much than not enough)
which came with the free W56 Tranny and Tcase.
My guess and search until now has been based on between 13 and 19 feet
four wheel trailer style or less, the plan being like the 4X4 @ $1500,
I ain't got much money and looking to find another rebuild project like
the truck in the 60's/70's year age range on CraigsList or some such.
What kind of stuff do some of you folks haul w/ the magic 22RE??
Thanks
J

Depends just what you mean by towing .
Move something a few miles down the road or drag this thing from your area to Prudhoe Bay via Key West
I have used a Tow Dolly to tow other Toyota 4x4 pick ups a few hundred miles.
It was a nice easy trip pretty much a 14 hour day to do about a 400 mile total.
One needs to really change there style of driving if you never towed anything.
Like any thing else it can get the job done ..
The thing to remember is the camper itself then enough stuff to keep Momma and the kids happy for a few days adds up real quick.
