I am not going to give specific details in case the 'bad people' are surfing but I have two great tips that I checked last night.

1. Circuit opening relay.

I used this on my 93 and just did the same on my 98.
If you put a switch in the green/yellow wire (its a low voltage wire that is 5V and very low current) , the starter will not work and neither will the ignitiuon system. This realy prevents both the starter circuit and the ignition circuit from energizing.

Find this relay from your manual. Chase down the harness to a spot where you can cut in and then cover it back up with black insulating tape (ther are spots on the harness that have factory black wrap.

Wire in a hidden switch or an alarm operated relay.

Truck WILL not start if the supply in this line is interupted

2. Auto only

Shift interlock ECU.

You can cut the Green White wire and it works the same as having a stop lamp bulb out. You cannot shift out of Park.


Last night, I wired a switch to a pair of SPST relays. If I can find a DPDT relay, I will replace it and actually cut the circuit opening relay wire and the shift interlock wire and have them both operated via the relays and switch.

Once activated, truck won't start and cannot be shifted into neutral to roll it away.

Sorry for lack of specific detail but do your research, find a good location for you and its a 90 min job at best.
