flywheel replacement, how much $?
Hey guys, I was considering buying a truck for really cheap but the guy said the flywheel is cracked and will need to get replaced soon. He already has a new one that comes with the truck. How much do you guys think it would cost just to get a shop to switch them? I'd call and check but it's too late here, all the shops are already closed. It's an auto tranny 4wd.

I would think they'll probably want 3-4 hours labour, the trans needs to come out. And you might as well put a new clutch in, and maybe a rear seal as well.

he checked it and was planning on replacing it but doesn't have the time, he did a whole inspection on the vehicle and has a list of every little thing wrong with it. The reason I got the words mixed up about the auto is another question that I was gonna ask but wasn't sure if they have it in yota's (it's a blazer). It has like an auto 4wd thing, a solenoid activates some part of the 4wd and he said that solenoid is messed up so the front wheels wont engage right. How long do you guys think it would take to fix that doing it at home? I was just curious, I'm doing it one way or the other but I was just wondering how much labor time it was gonna take me.

the only way to check for a cracked flywheel is to remove the transmission, so if its already out might as well replace the flywheel yourself. i just re-read this post and see this is for a blazer? guessing an S-10 blazer with maybe a 2.8 liter engine? not worth your time unless its free.

he didn't have the replacement flywheel at the time. It's an 89 s10 blazer 4.3l v6. He wants $400 for it. I'm not too sure I'm gonna take it at this point cause it doesn't have a top. I was under the impression that the top came off of those like the k5 blazers did but I guess he cut it off and doesn't have the top anymore.

You can't see all of the flywheel through that hole.. Might be enough though.
Replacing the flywheel is going to cost some bucks.. Not for the price of the flywheel, but for the price of pulling the transmission and transfer case. I'm guessing over $500 labor alone.

2006 Nissan Altima Flywheel
I have a 2006 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder with a bad flywheel. I have a new one for it and I want to know how much anyone thinks it will cost to have someone put it in for me

This thread is a full decade old, nice job bringing it back from the dead!
Since the answers in it apply to your car just like they did the 89 blazer, it'll still cost whatever the shop charges for a flywheel plus 4 to 5 hours labor to pull the tranny.
