Zombie thread, I realize that... there are dozens of EGR delete posts, I had to pick ONE of them to resurrect....

So, please confirm for me because I'm trying to work this out. I have an old Pacesetter header that does NOT have the ports below #2 and #3 into the head.... does this mean that no exhaust will go into my EGR system, no matter what the rest of the EGR system is doing?

Check my math for me, so to speak, here is the header flange:

I've read all the back and forths about power, milage, efficiency, etc on this so I don't want to start all that over again. I'm really just NOT wanting the EGR system after spending 10+ hours scrubbing my intake of all the carbon sludge buildup.

My big concern is (was?) the heat buildup around #4 where the EGR runs through the cooling chamber at the back of the head. I hear from Tod at engnbldr that doing a half-assed EGR delete causes excess heat buildup there and can blow HG's. I don't want that, so I am thinking heavily on keeping EGR. BUT if the exhaust never even gets there.... no heat!?

So if I'm figuring this right, this header won't work with EGR regardless, so, keep or "delete" it with block plates, engine function will be the same?

Yup, delete it. Or you could have the headers tapped to work with the egr system, but why?
