Maybe, but he said he wasn't going to be doing any major rock crawling, so I figure the money for 4.7s would be better spent else where. But IDK, I have yet to 4x4 out there. Your rocks are more boulder field from what I understand, so ya the lockers would be good.

Yeah the 470s were for the 33s. But since im sticking with 31s im not doing anything to gearing. And a locker is pretty much an essential to offroading. And an aussie locker is pretty cheap.

http://www.yotatech.com/f100/az-mart...5-07-a-132481/ Here is an example of what I could do with 31's, armor, and a rear locker. Yes the skid plates took a beating, but with good line selection and tire placement look at the trucks I was hanging with.

I don't rock crawl anymore than what's on the trails. I like trail wheeling. If I was going to do it again, I'd've pony'd up for dual stock case before I went to 4:70. Just for the gear options. But at the time I wasn't able to do some of the other mods needed to run duals on a short wheel base. But now that I have 2:28 and 4:70 I don't know how I ever did with out them. I don't care to wheel by throttle with the combination of gears, suspension, lockers, and armor the 4rnr is very capable. Some of the trails get pretty rough especial where big tires and horse power were used. But I just gear the 22re through the same places
It really upsets the horsepower guys when they get behind me, but oh well have felt the same when I've had to wait and wait for them to throttle through.

get the part number from him and cross reference it with the detroit catalog or Randy's ring and pinion or marlins, or.... But also search for what is need to install a detroit. It's different than an Aussie/locrite but I hear they are awesome.

You'll need to do some searching to see if its something you can use but its a good price.

Ditto on getting the part # and checking against Detroits site. I assume you want the locker in the rear in which case you want the 8 inch/30 spline model. Mudd Duck 1 has 27 spline listed in his ad so you need to make really really sure about it. It's an awesome deal if it will work, but I'm afraid it isn't what you want. Check it out though.
The Aussie I listed is the right one though I did list the up to '89 4runner listing. You have a 4 cylinder non turbo so you need part # XD-20830 regardless if its listed as 84-89 runner or 79-95 truck etc. Look again, click any 8 inch non V6 locker and you will get the same part # http://www.aussielocker.com/make.php.../ee4f/20/.html The fronts are the 7.5 inch/27 spline (also 2wd rear). Aussie didn't have a part for 6 cyl/turbo 4cyl until recently. Those diffs are different with larger bearings which changes the locker size. They won't work for you. If in doubt, contact Aussie. They will fix you up.

The part # would go a long way toward getting that locker sold. And dang it on the cluster. I need the previous style.

i also have the basic cluster that is just a speedo with gas and maybe temp not really sure if thats what your referring to BLKNBLU. probably not? are you talkin you need it for an 80's vehicle? and the km thing is cool the only prob on the locker is i don't know the part number and neither does my dad who originally was going to use it i just know its good for 4 cylinder pick ups with 27 spline rear ends i don't know about 4runners though

On the locker, is/was your Dad's truck a 2wd? If yes, you are correct that it should be a 27 spline 7.5 inch. I'll have to doublecheck before I post whether or not it will fit in an IFS front. I think yes, but I'll doublecheck.

Right, so I poked around Eaton's site and they don't list an application for a Detroit locker for the 7.5 inch at all. After re-visiting muddduck's ad it looks like a Lockrite/aussie/detroit ez locker in a Toyota carrier. So Muddduck, yes it is made by Eaton/Detroit but it is not what most folks mean when they refer to a Detroit Locker. A true Detroit replaces the entire carrier. The ez locker is a "lunchbox" style similar to the lockrite by Richmond or the Aussie by Torq masters. If that is the case, your price is not really that great. They are $269 new, granted yours is already installed in a carrier so there is value in that. Check me out on all this, also see if you can spy the part #811A017 anywhere on it. Good luck.
