Dent repair

had a little extra time today, so I decided to take care of a dent I got last year at the Tin Bender's Toyota Jamboree.

I still need to buff out the clearcoat, but at least the dent is gone.

took out the door panel and used body hammers to smooth things out. Used my grinder to take it down to bare metal. After I got it as flat as I could, I used a very small amount of body filler to give it a clean look. Primed, sanded, once everything looked good, I mixed up the color coat(BTW it was a perfect match) sprayed a few coats, wet sanded to see if the blend was right, then sprayed the clearcoat. I'll wait a few weeks before I buff it all out.

I would, but there's rain in the forecast for friday and saturday, no reason to clean it yet....

Damn, that looks professional. Bruce, I know you're working on your rear bumpers but PM me if you're interested in painting my front bumper. (I'm willing to pay.)

Peter, I used to be the body man on several NASCAR southwest tour and Winston west series teams. You should see some of the stuff I had to fix, fenders are very easy, but it's usually cheaper to replace them.

I got lucky on the color, when I got a gallon a while back, the match couldn't be any closer. I probably should have painted the whole door, but I know I'll be getting more dings. If I spent a bit more time I could have done a better job, as of now, you can see where the repair was made by looking at the reflection, but the average person probably wouldn't even notice, my rig ain't a show car so it don't have to be flawless.

You know I was thinking about this the other day but considering the fact that I don't paint it could end up costing me double what it would to just go to a bodyshop and get it done as a package deal.
