took out the door panel and used body hammers to smooth things out. Used my grinder to take it down to bare metal. After I got it as flat as I could, I used a very small amount of body filler to give it a clean look. Primed, sanded, once everything looked good, I mixed up the color coat(BTW it was a perfect match) sprayed a few coats, wet sanded to see if the blend was right, then sprayed the clearcoat. I'll wait a few weeks before I buff it all out.

Damn, that looks professional. Bruce, I know you're working on your rear bumpers but PM me if you're interested in painting my front bumper. (I'm willing to pay.)

Peter, I used to be the body man on several NASCAR southwest tour and Winston west series teams. You should see some of the stuff I had to fix, fenders are very easy, but it's usually cheaper to replace them. I got lucky on the color, when I got a gallon a while back, the match couldn't be any closer. I probably should have painted the whole door, but I know I'll be getting more dings. If I spent a bit more time I could have done a better job, as of now, you can see where the repair was made by looking at the reflection, but the average person probably wouldn't even notice, my rig ain't a show car so it don't have to be flawless. |

You know I was thinking about this the other day but considering the fact that I don't paint it could end up costing me double what it would to just go to a bodyshop and get it done as a package deal. |
