Like title says. About a week ago, I posted a thread about what I thought was a blown hg on a buddys truck. I had a lil water in the oil after an overheating incident. Since then, I have changed the oil, and filter. Now I have ran the truck for prob about 50 miles on the road, and prob an hour at an idle in the shop. Still no water in the oil. Heres the thing tho, when I let it sit over night, I get a build up of water on my oil cap, and after I run the engine, it turns milky on the oil cap, and at the very top of the oil dipstick. Still no water in oil though. My oil still looks new. My question is, is it normal to get condensation on oil dipstick, and cap. Its been real wet lately. Also how long would it take the engine to leak oil into the water if it was a hg? Compression test shows 170,165,170,155. Ive always had a lower 4th cylinder. It doesnt blow any smoke whatsoever, and it runs fine. Whta do you guys think?

I dont think its a HG at all. Sounds like you may have gotten the area damp with Oil possibly when changing and checking it and with the wet and colder weather that could easily condensate. Have you changed the coolant? how does it look?

Yes and this is more common in the winter and combined with short trips. Just keep an eye on the coolant level and the actual oil look.

As of now, Im running straight water in it. It looks like water, level doesnt go down, but it does overflow. Not becaus of hg, because I filled the overflow to high, so it will do this till it balances itself out. I dont know what to think, but you guys say it is normal in cold weather. So maybe I just run it to the ground. Oh well, were planning on doing a comple top end job, plus new rings and rod bearings, in a few months anyways. Just thought id post, to see if it was normal.

why do you only run water in it?

The yellowish cream is fairly common to find on the cap. Some motors have poorly designed breathers so moisture has a hard time escaping. The winter time is when you are more likely to notice the condensation because there is more moisture in the air. If the oil in the pan is at all milky I would be concerned but cream on the cap is normal for some engines. Just out of curiosity what motor is it?

I am running straight water, because when I had overheating issue, I lost all water. So in fear of a bad hg, I didnt want to waste good coolant. I will be putting a 50/50 mix in within a couple days. It is an 1981 toyota so I imagine it has a 22r . I also have a lil milky crap at the very top of my dipstick, like where it seals at.
