Can you use a radial spare with bias ply tires?
My 'wheeling tires are 34x9.50-15 SuperSwamper TSL (bias ply). My regular tires and spare are 33x10.50-15 Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT.
'Wheeling Saturday, I blew a bead on the driver's side front tire and in the effort of getting somewhere that we could change it, it got pretty mangled - beyond our desire to try and fix/reset anyways.
So we put on the spare and get off the trail.
The truck is handling real funny on the road. Floaty - like when it had bad shocks. Pretty scary really.
SOOOOOO.... We changed it from the DS front to rear, and it drove much better - still a little strange, and the cruise control couldn't handle it, but it was almost back to normal with the different tire on the rear.
Is it bad to mix bias ply and radial tires? Why was it worse on the front (IFS) than the rear? Size difference? Construction difference?
