I've heard about this as well, but sorry, I don't have a clue on where to begin. I was thinking, after converting the a/c compressor to an onboard air compressor, the a/c button will no longer stand for "air conditioner," but rather, "air compressor!" haha

Basically, you disconnect the lines, get rid of the freon, add oil, hook up hoses, and plumb your system.

The type of compressor matters with this. If you've got a self lubricating compressor then you're good to go. If it's not self lubricating then it'll still work but you'll have to add oil from time to time. Most onboard air systems that I've seen use a York compressor either in place of the original AC compressor or in addition to it. I'm new to 'yotas so I don't know anything about their compressors.

york compressors are the easiest way to do it. with them you can add to or replace your ac.
If you do not use a compressor with its own oil supply, you have to add an inline oiler.
the only two compressors you want to look at (other than electric) are sanden and york.
the sanden's rob less horsepower than other compressors and are smaller than most. but they need an inline oiler.
the yorks are bigger but need no oiler.
