BFH hit the part that dosnt move, the part that doesnt have a rubber boot. hit it fro the side, with a large hammer until it comes loose.

I have used this method with some success.
Remove the castle nut then reistall it upside down although only threaded on far enough to protect the threads, then smack it with a hammer. Installing the castle nut upside down allows you to protect the threads without sacrificing the lugs on the castle nut. Hope this makes sense.

Good gosh people...use a small pitman arm puller/TRE puller. Piece of cake with no "beating" anything.

Hit the ear where the tie rod goes into with a hammer. This will break the taper and it will come free. No special tools needed just aim.

try heating it...and then beating it. It's tough to do without burning the boot, but if careful it can be done.

My old tie rods were in the same way so we just put them in like that.... oops!! Regaurdless of what we were smoking ![]() The only problem this has caused was clearance issues once I go offroad and everything flexes. Hey 904_runner - A sas is very much in my mind. I almost want to do it just to get rid of the pain in the arse IFS crap. I cooked yet another idler arm. In one day of mild wheeling. That downey brace is usless!!!!
