I figured if they said that it can be used in place of the 80w-90, then I would be fine.
I didn't buy enough 80w-90 and just want to run all 75w-90.

I'm using it the other way. . . .80W-90 in both the rear and the gear box for the manual trans. . . .Does anyone think that is a bad idea?

FilthyRich, My bro changed his diff fluid (f/r) with the same exact Amsoil in his e-locked '02 Taco and has had NO issues. Hes gone wheeling a decent amount too.

I used Vavoline 80W-90 GL5 in my 4 speed gear box. I'm not sure I like it. It seemed more difficult to shift into 2nd while going at a slow speed, at first. It seemed to get better the more I drove it but like I said, I'm not sure that I like it.
What is the consensus on the best gear oil to use? |

Help . . . anyone know where I could get a pump to put the oil in the gear box. It's a pain in the neck to squeeze the bottle while trying to keep it upright during refill.

Most auto parts stores sell the little hand pumps for gear oil. That is what I use. With gear oil, you really only worry about the 2nd number which is the hot viscosity. So a an xxW90 oil is basically the same viscosity when hot, whether "xx" is 70, 75, 80 or even 90. So if Toyota calls for 80W90 or even straight 90W oil, as long as you run somethingW90 is is fine. Many mineral oils are going to be either straight 90W or 80W90, while most synthetics will be a wider range 75W90 since they don't need as much viscosity improver to make them resist thinning at high temps.
