hey all. I have a 93 toyota camry to which I have replaced the head gaskets and other maintenance items in the past year. it currently has 90k on the odo. there is lots of clicking and tapping noises, I suspect are the valves out of spec. I was very careful to put things back in their correct place during installation but I feel that the machine shop that did the valve seals mixed up my shims and the car has been noisy ever since. the intake valves are within factory specs but all the exhaust valves are out of spec, being too tight. there is also engine vibration when the vehicle is first started. I also ripped things apart and want to re-check camshaft bearing clearance because I notice some shiny spots on the bearing journal during dis-assembly. I assume this is not possible with the shims and buckets still installed in the head as that would be pushing up on the cam. am I right?
