22RE Vacuum Line PICS HELP Engine Rebuild
I will hopefully be installing the motor back into the Runner this weekend. (I've ran out of stuff to do to the engine )
I wan't to ensure that I have the Vacuum lines correct. I have 2 lines comming from the Evap canister in the engine bay, And I have 2 Open Lines on the motor.
So hopefully everything is correct. One open spot is on the 3 way valve on the upper throttle intake, and one is on the bottom vacuum rail.
The Furthest left two blue arrows show the open vacuum ports,
Better Pic the two open vacuum lines Do These go the the Evap canasiter?
Pic of the 3 way valve.
Thanks for looking.

I'm sure you've already seen this but here anyways...
Vacuum Line Diagram
In the first pic there are 3 ports on the back of the vacuum rail. The top one goes to the fuel pressure regulator while the bottom one goes to the canister. You need to fix that.
On that plug which threads into the upper intake, the bottom vacuum port leads to that grey VSV you can see on the left side of picture one.
BTW, VERY nice work on the motor.

Yeaaaaah! Um..... I'm still going to need help! I have 3 lines off the evap canister, one goes to the fuel return and two vacuum lines.
That .pdf is a little confusing with all the little lines everywhere.
Which color is the VSS and STD and the ???

Hey, I don't know a whole lot about these things, but if taking a few pics of my 22re out of my '86 would help, I'd be happy to do it. Can't do it until day light, though.

Okay, my motor is older than yours, I believe. Regardless, it's set up a tad differently. On the canister, on mine, one line goes to the tank (?), and the other goes to the front of the TB. Some of the hoses on your's are routed differently, and I think you have more. It's hard for me to tell...I have to keep running back and forth from my truck and still remember where everything goes. One thing is, in the third pic, the part you're pointing to, I have two ports capped....you don't. ???
Part my of problem is I have a malfunctioning hot water heater and have to get ready for work at the moment. So, my mind is distracted. If you could give me a few hours, after I get to work and have a moment of undivided attention, I can compare and help you figure it out. Unless of course, some generous soul helps you first. Otherwise, I'll get back. For now, if yours is at all the same as mine, none of your vacant vacuum ports you've pointed out go to your canister.

On my can, I have two lines on the top and one running from the bottom . Of the top two, one is fuel return and the other goes to the TB.....routed like what Allterrain17 says. The bottom is open ended routed to the ground....like a drain. Like I said, I don't know much, but if three is all you have, that's where they go.
Good luck! I'm completely jealous...nice motor!

Vacumn Routing / Service manual
This is a old link but I figured I would list the link for the online/pdf FSM's for all the vehicles :
http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html
Here also is the '93 FSM which is good (from what I am told) for pretty much all the trucks '88-'94 with the 4 bangers and V6 3VZE , when you open the link the first list is for the 4 bangers , scroll down a bit and you will see the same list for the 3VZE motor :
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/
FYI

I know it's an old post but instead of making a new one I wanted to ask a question while the pic is up here. What is the device at the bottom right of the picture above with the black dial on it?
Also, what if I don't have a line from dash pot down and dont have a vtv? Is it ok to run without them or do i need to get them and install? I don't have ac hooked up.

The "dial" is just the cap with filter inside that is the vent line to atmosphere for when the A/C is off, no vacuum to the idle up valve.
The dashpot VTV is part of the system as it is the one-way valve, kind of like a shock absorber, for the air. Lets escaping air go out slowly, making the dashpot slow the throttle closing, but it lets air in fast when you open the throttle so that it is ready in case you again close the throttle. Without the VTV, the dashpot does not do a whole lot, basically a little air resistance and a little spring resistance.

I am trying to fully understand the vacuum setups on these 22re engines. Right now I do not have ac installed so the ac vsv is gone. I also don't have the idle up valve either.
Am I not running as good as I could be without them? Both mine and a friends don't have either and seem to run ok. Sure we don't have high idle to warm up faster but it runs ok.
Also, can we eliminate one or both of the egr pieces and run ok or not?
I'll take a pic of my vacuum line setup and post it so I can be better helped out and understand it from others looking at it I hope.
I personally hate dealing with lots of vacuum lines and valves that control other valves and such. So messy. That's why I like to eliminate as much as possible and clean it up.
I kinda get the dash pot thing but think it sounds dumb and useless. Sounds like you want it to slow the tb closing. I've read other places people use stiffer springs on the tb to make it close faster. I have the dashpot thing but no little filter on the end. A friend of mine runs ok without a dashpot. Do we really even need it?
Can we run ok without the vacuum lines to and from the power steering or is it best to keep those in tact?
