Question 22r rebuild - no oil pressure

I rebuilt my motor and tried to start it today. The gauges indicated no oil pressure. I removed the oil filter and there was no sign of oil flow. Are there any classic mistakes that I could have made? Is it a bad oil pump? Any thoughts would help.

Thanks

I did some serching and I didn't use vasiline. Is there another way to prime the pump or do I have to take it apart again?

if you are going to prime it by cranking it, its a good idea to pull the plugs out to keep some force off of the rod bearings. i would pull the pump back off and pack it with vasiline or grease. put some oil in the filter too

yes

Yes, I put oil in and lubed everything including the oil pump but it sat for a week or so. I have an idiot light and an electric sr5 pressure gauge zero oil pressure. I pulled all the plugs and cranked it for about 5 seconds. I saw the gauge move a little (I think). Now I have the radiator and such out. I'm going to pack the pump unless you think it's something else.

Still no oil in filter

5 seconds isnt going to be long enough to build pressure when not primed. Try multiple short burst till you have pressure on the guage.

I had to crank on mine for probably at least a minute. I'd crank for 15 seconds then give it a rest then crank another 15 seconds and so on. It was at least a minute of cranking before my oil idiot light went out. And yes, I did it without spark plugs and with the coil wire disconnected.
