adding to this. If you do an advanced search, go to "Sort Results By" and where it says "last posting date" switch it to "relevency"

This will give you the thread that is the mose relevent to what you're looking for instead of the last thread that might have just mentioned what you're looking for. I've had this happen several times, and what I needed to find was mentioned so long ago that it would have taken forever to go through all the pages to find what i was looking for.

Ah! That would explain why I couldn't find what I was looking for. I ended up posting the question anyway. I'll try again. I'm sort of new.
